I would consider myself to be an atheist, yet I give up a lot, you have to do good things in life. I therefore take offence at the phrase ’it’s what the atheists get wrong’, I think Peterson means ‘nihilists’, which is not being very precise with his speech, somewhat ironic I think.

Work to me always meant that I'm trading my time for the things that I want. I bought things with the idea of how much time do I have to stand on my feet for the item I want.

On this one I couldn’t disagree with Jordon more. Maybe he needs a goal and or plan to make a task enjoyable but not all of us our wired that way. For instance when I cut split and stack firewood in the summer I know it’s to keep me warm in winter but I enjoy the task itself separately from the ultimate goal.

I enjoy my “me” time. But I am not afraid to get out in the world and be with people and be a responsible human-being.

A couple years ago I was judged by two lifelong friends over my choice in dealing with a woman after my wife of 31 years died from brain cancer. One of them had 3 children. 1 died from being murdered by the prostitute he ripped off for sex. The other child died from a fentanyl overdose because she was a heroin addict because the previously mentioned kid molested her from being 6 years old and daddy did nothing about it after his daughter told him about it while it was still going on. His wife also left him because he paid more attention to his bong than her or the kids. My other ex-friend has been seeing a married woman, the same one, for 30 years. They both judged me because of the women I chose to date. Young and a little more wild than most. Nothing immoral or illegal ever. Finally I simply just moved them out of my circle of friends. Cold turkey. One of the best things I have ever done. If someone doesn’t respect and/or honor your friendship then terminate that friendship. I am very successful, remarried and on top of the world. I no longer feel obligated to bail out my “friends” whenever they need money or counseling that they don’t pay attention to anyway. Society can ruin you if you are too nice to people who don’t deserve it. Now i help people who are trying hard to help themselves. No more losers in my life. I don’t judge people, I just don’t associate with the one’s I don’t respect. Life is too short to let negative people affect your life.

I'm not sure about the proposition that Atheists don't understand the sacrificial nature of the bible. Your reasoning seems to go out the window when you get all christy. If anything, understanding the prospect of sacrifice in the bible is what turns us away, when we realise that the sacrifices imposed on us by it will likely not be worth it. Because, as I keep saying, it's just a cope for death. Richard Dawkins famously said something like 'Why did god sacrifice his own son to save us from original sin (another ridiculous concept) when he's all powerful and could have simply forgiven us? Most christians seem to just accept that jesus had to be crucified because it's in the bible. The grand finale and why question the word of god anyway? I'm not saying that no sacrifice is worthwhile, but when it comes to christians. They don't understand the need for suffering. They just accept it.

SOMETIMES demons are angels, trying to DRAG you to the light. Hence the reason why they look like demons sometimes. Staring into the abyss long enough, helps you to spot the difference.

JP is right about looking into the abyss. If you stare LONG enough, the fear of the abyss leaves. What you're left with is... LIGHT.
